Update 2012

Lidya has a new home at Camp Rendell with 25 of her old friends and, of course, the caregivers. Camp Rendell is only 45 minutes away from care center so she still receives regular check-ups from the veterinarians. Her new environment is surrounded by forest, swamp and is close to a river. Lidya is very good at building night nests and makes one every day in the forest. She also loves to play in water and looks forward to having a bath. If Lidya is not in a tree or a bucket of water, she is in the sawdust pile used to enrich the soil. If there was a seed-spitting contest for orangutans, Lidya would be the champion! Although Lidya's favourite fruit is rambutan, she always looks forward to a treat of rice or noodles. Lidya is entering adolescence and is currently 52.9 pounds (24 kilograms.) She seems to love her new home and surroundings. She probably is looking forward to spending more time in the forest!
